my top 5 everyday makeup products
One of the most important aspects of my morning routine is getting ready with go-to products that make me feel confident, will stay in place throughout the day, and are easy to use. These are my top makeup items that I use ever day and have been loving for quite some time now!
1. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
When I use a foundation, I want it to have enough coverage to even out my skin tone, but not too intense so I don't have a full-glam look. I've been using Too Faced Born This Way Foundation for years because gives me the ideal balance of buildable, medium coverage while maintaining a skin-like finish that's not too matte or dewy. Born This Way lasts the entire day, doesn't feel heavy on my skin, and doesn't cling to dry patches or break up around my nose/forehead (where I normally get the most oily). It's easy to apply with a sponge or brush, but often I'll just use my fingers instead! I wear the shade Nude, and they have an extensive shade range with a multitude of undertones to meet everyone's shade needs. I love having this foundation because it's my most reliable base product- with its longevity, natural finish, and formula, I know it will look great underneath anything else I put on top of it.
2. ILIA Multi-stick in Lady Bird
Nothing is better than a multi-tasking product, especially for those busy days when I need to get out the door quickly. The ILIA Multi-stick in Lady Bird is an amazing cream product, in a neutral rosy shade that can be used as blush, lip color, or even eyeshadow. Because it's a cream, you can easily apply it in a multitude of ways: by putting some on the back of your hand and using a damp sponge or a dense brush, or by swiping it directly on your face and blending it out using your fingers. I love how effortlessly it blends and sinks into the skin, giving a natural finish that isn't too drying but also won't fade throughout the day, either. The Multi-stick applies a wash of color that you can build up to whatever color intensity you'd like, and comes in several beautiful colors that range from cooler-toned pinks and mauves to warmer-toned siennas and berries, so everyone can find the perfect shade to suit their preferences. It's compact, portable, and very travel-friendly, so I can throw it in purse for any touch-ups throughout the day, and I don't need to bring any tools with me to make it work!
3. Glossier Haloscope in Quartz
My ideal highlight needs to look like natural skin, especially in the daylight, and that means no glitter particles or metallic finish. The Glossier Haloscope in Quartz does all of this and then some! This product is also a cream stick that doesn't emphasize texture, and I like to apply this one using my fingers to easily blend it out over the tops of my cheekbones and sometimes bring it up to the corners of my eyes. I appreciate how user-friendly products like this are, because it's sheer and not overly intense you really can't mess up the application! Quartz is a beautiful, pinky pearlescent color that melds into my foundation and blush in such a lovely way, and it doesn't look like it's just a shiny stripe on my face. Look below to see how it catches and reflects the natural sunlight :)
4. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
Mascara is one of the most important aspects of my makeup routine, because it noticeably makes me look more awake and feel put together. Finding juuuust the right mascara wand + formulation can be difficult, but Tarte's Light, Camera, Lashes has been such an amazing find. This mascara gives me the ultimate fluttery and flirty look by fanning them out without having a spider-like lashes, which aren't my personal preference. Because it's more of a dry formula, especially after the tube has been opened for a bit, the coats build upon themselves without getting clumpy. It doesn't smudge and lasts the entire day, so no raccoon eyes at the end of the night!
5. Glossier Boy Brow
Another product I use every single day without fail is Glossier's Boy Brow, which has eliminated the hassle of doing my eyebrows. Doing your brows can feel like such a chore sometimes, am I right?! Instead of potentially having to use any combination of pencils, pomade, or wax, Boy Brow combines outlining, filling in, and holding brows into one singular step/product. It holds my brow hairs in place and thickens them without being over the top. The applicator (which looks like a miniature mascara brush) is tiny, which allows way more precision in application and also controls the amount of product deposited into the brow; the tube lasts a surprisingly long time, because of you how little product you need to use! They have several different shade options to choose from, including a clear gel that doesn't have any color to it if you don't want pigment.
I love how makeup is so personal and such a fun way to express ourselves. Let me know some of your absolute favorite products and how you like to use them! :)
